SCORSU
A nationwide survey by Science for Good and the University of Colorado Boulder
The next generation of scientists is navigating unprecedented shifts in the future landscape of science.
Across the country, undergraduate students who came to college excited about careers in science are now facing real uncertainty about funding, job markets, and whether the fields they love will have places for them.
We think their experiences deserve to be heard, understood, and acted on.
What is SCORSU?
SCORSU, or the STEM Career Outlook Research Study on Undergraduates, is a national research study exploring how recent shifts in federal science policy are shaping the attitudes, aspirations, and experiences of undergraduate students interested in STEM research careers.
We want to understand what students are feeling, what’s changed for them, and most importantly, what kinds of support would actually make a difference.

Are you a student?
If you’re 18 or older, enrolled at a two- or four-year institution, and have had an interest in pursuing a STEM research career at any point since December 2024 — we want to hear from you!
Our survey is currently undergoing IRB approval. Fill out this form to be notified when it is available:
Why SCORSU matters
Research on science policy tends to focus on people who are already deep in their careers: graduate students, postdocs, principal investigators, established researchers. But the students who are deciding right now whether to pursue science often get left out of that conversation.
SCORSU is an effort to change that. By listening to undergraduates across the country, across majors, backgrounds, and institutions, we can help build a clearer picture of what’s at stake, and what support looks like at the community, institutional, and state level.
